Doorway to Hope

In order to meet the need and increase the impact to our community, Project Women is building a new facility at Fifth and Lee Streets, adjacent to the University of Louisville’s Belknap Campus. This new facility will provide housing for 56 single parent families in two and three bedroom apartments, as well as programmatic space to serve residential and non-residential families through academic advising, case management, and community activities. The convenient location near U of L and on a bus route makes access to community resources convenient for families. In recognition of the importance of education not only for the parents, but also for their children, Project Women is addressing one of the greatest barriers our families face, that of finding convenient and quality childcare. Without access to childcare many single parents are unable to attend school, study or work. They want a safe and enjoyable place for their children to play and learn while they are away from them.
